Because personnel laws are always changing, we needed an experienced, professional HR Consultant who would streamline our personnel side of the business and train our 130 employees. Alistair joined us after careful research and consideration. In addition, he promptly and efficiently addressed our many issues.
Furthermore, Alistair updated our employee handbook and contracts of employment. He also rolled out a training programme for our staff to improve service, and supported the management team while dealing with difficult personnel issues.
Alistair’s skills and approachable manner is admirable.
His knowledge of employment law is also boundless, which is also very reassuring when dealing with tricky disciplinary issues.
In addition, we feel lucky to have found Alistair. In my 30 years of being a manager, I have never come across anyone as approachable and skilled in his profession as he is. If you are looking for an HR Consultant, look no further as Alistair is one in a million.
Alistair and John are always on hand to give advice. They offer a great service and always have an answer to any problems. In addition, I would thoroughly recommend The HR Booth for any HR related problems.

Real Results in Hospitality

Client A, Hospitality Sector
One of our clients (we have named them ‘ Client A’ for the purposes of data protection) in the hospitality sector was faced with a complex and sensitive situation when an employee raised a formal grievance against their own General Manager. We were engaged to manage the process from start to finish, ensuring that every step was handled in line with the ACAS Code of Practice. By taking a fair, thorough, and professional approach, we were able to support both the employee and the management team through what could have become a highly disruptive issue. Our careful handling of the case ensured the situation remained contained and did not escalate further, helping to preserve working relationships and maintain stability within the business.
Client B, Retail Sector
One of our clients (named ‘Client B’ for purpose of data protection) approached us for support when an employee was AWOL from the workplace without any prior notice or explanation. We guided the client through all the necessary steps, including repeated attempts to contact the employee and giving them the opportunity to respond. When no communication was received despite reasonable efforts, we advised and supported the client in making a fair and compliant decision to end the employee’s employment on the grounds of a failed probation. This ensured the process was handled in line with best practice and minimised any potential risk.

Client C, Hospitality Sector
We provide a full outsourced HR and ER service for a hospitality client (named ‘Client C’ for data protection purposes), operating in a rural area where recruitment and retention is problematic. Our full outsourced service has allowed our client’s management team to focus on the day to day operations whilst freeing up valuable time as our team take care of all recruitment administration, onboarding of new employees and all associated job changes.
We have created career pathways, carried out engagement surveys, trained all line managers in a range of people management subjects and conducted exit interviews. All of this has impacted on our client’s bottom line and we’ve seen improvements in retention, engagement and time to hire, whilst our client has seen improvements in productivity and customer satisfaction.
We have also supported our client with changes to casual worker arrangements and ensured compliance with changes to employment legislation, whilst managing a busy ER case load.
