Meet our Marketing Executive, Shannon Mason

Meet Shannon, our Marketing Executive here at The HR Booth. Shannon has been part of our team for the past 8 years, bringing creativity, expertise, and a passion for delivering results. She first joined us on a part-time basis, before stepping into a full-time role 4 years later.

In her position, Shannon plays a key role in shaping our marketing presence. A big part of our role is managing and developing our website. She also oversees SEO strategies to ensure we’re reaching the right audience. As a business, we made the strategic decision to focus on enhancing our website and strengthening our SEO. By investing in these areas, we aimed to improve our online visibility, attract more of our target audience, and ensure our digital presence reflected the quality of our services. We’ve seen first hand the benefits that this brings.

How has the website changed the way we connect with potential clients or people looking for support?

The website has given us a way to present who we are and everything we offer, helping businesses connect with us as a trusted HR partner.

Our enquiry forms and regularly updated blog allow us to engage with clients beyond the standard working hours. They also help us reach a wider audience, as people can discover us through search engines and get information about our services at any time. It has become an important tool for us to communicate with businesses and build relationships.

What kind of content or features on the site do you think have made the biggest impact?

We dedicate a lot of time to our blog post section on our website. Through this, we publish information on employment law updates and answer popular HR related questions we’ve received. With so much conflicting information online, it can be difficult for businesses to know who to rely on. Our aim is to provide clear, trustworthy guidance in the simplest way possible.

We also provide our clients with exclusive access to our learning hub. This includes downloadable templates, practical resources, and helpful insights designed to support them with everyday HR challenges.

Do you think the website helps build trust with people before they decide to get in touch with us?

People always prefer to do their own research before even thinking about picking up the phone. That’s why it’s essential to ensure your website answers all their key questions, keeping them engaged long enough to feel confident about making contact. We always lead with transparency.

In what ways does the website help showcase who we are as a business – not just what we do?

The website allows us to showcase what makes us different and what drives us as a business. It’s a space where we highlight the things that matter to us, such as our social impact and the feedback we receive from clients, insights that wouldn’t always come up in day-to-day conversations.

How do you see the website working for us 24/7 – even when the team is offline?

The great thing about the website is that it doesn’t close at five. It means if people are looking for advice beyond usual working hours, our website is available to them. We have hundreds of helpful blog posts, information on our services, pricing breakdown, free eBooks and so much more. Our clients also have access to our client portal filled with templates and resources so they always have access to our support even when we’re offline.

How do you think the website has helped position us differently from other HR providers?

The website has allowed us to showcase our personality, and demonstrate that we are not a call centre but an extension of our clients’ teams. It’s given us the platform to highlight our expert team, their experience, and share client testimonials, helping us stand out across the UK. Something that wouldn’t be possible without the website.

The website might be working 24/7, but we’re not – what do you do to switch off and step away from it all when the day’s done?

I have a one-year-old so she keeps me busy! From swimming classes to toddler groups, she has a better social life than I do! I also enjoy going for walks and finding new places to explore.

My Journey

”Marketing wasn’t always a career I worked towards. I wasn’t really sure what I wanted to do after school so decided to study HND radio studies at College. This led to me studying Media Broadcasting at Sunderland University where I discovered digital media. After graduating from University, I knew I had more of an interest in Digital Marketing so I decided to pursue a career in this sector.

I then worked as a freelance digital media assistant, supporting businesses with their online presence. Shortly after this, I discovered The HR Booth and joined the team as a Marketing Assistant. Before joining the team full-time, I also worked with a vintage furniture and leather bag company for 4 years as their Marketing Assistant. I also worked freelance during this time to support local businesses with all things marketing.

My Job

As a Marketing Executive, I work with the team to develop campaigns to promote all the great services that the team offer. I also look after our social media activity, create video content, update our website, create marketing materials such as brochures, and write blog posts. I also work with the team to produce content for our regular newsletters, and support clients by producing newsletters and videos for recruitment campaigns.

Our customers receive newsletters every month with the latest news and advice on employment law changes, mental health guidance, Health & Safety in the workplace, and much more. I am also responsible for managing our client portal. The client portal is available on our website where clients can access hundreds of downloadable content including letter templates, checklists, how to guides, and videos on various HR related topics.
