Parental Leave Changes

Employment Law

The legislation around parental leave changed on 8 March 2013, increasing from 13 weeks to 18 weeks.

What does this mean for employers?

You will need to update your employee handbooks to reflect these changes and ensure your employees are aware of this.

What if I don’t have an employee handbook?

You will need to ensure that any requests for parental leave are followed and you give employees the opportunity to apply for 18 weeks. Any associated documents should refer to 18 weeks. Clients of The HR Booth don’t need to worry, we will update this accordingly where required.

If you need help and assistance on this or would like to know more about employee handbooks, visit www.thehrbooth.co.uk to find out more.
