Meet Lynn, Senior HR Consultant at The HR Booth

At The HR Booth, we believe that the heart of our success lies in our people. This week, we’re delighted to introduce Lynn, our Senior HR Consultant, as part of our Meet the Team spotlight. Lynn shares her journey into HR consultancy, what she’s learned along the way, and how she’s grown with us here at The HR Booth.

Lynn’s Journey at The HR Booth

Lynn joined us as a HR Consultant in August 2023, bringing with her a wealth of experience and a fresh perspective. Within just six months, her dedication, expertise, and proactive approach saw her progress into the role of Senior HR Consultant.

In her current role, Lynn not only provides expert HR advice and guidance to our clients, she also manages our internal admin support team. As a line manager, she ensures that our operations run smoothly behind the scenes, while fostering a supportive and collaborative team environment. Lynn’s dual focus on external consultancy and internal leadership makes her an invaluable member of our team.

What brought you to The HR Booth in the first place, and what were those early days like for you?

I was ready for a new challenge and expand my HR knowledge and after my first discussion with John on Microsoft Teams I knew it would be a great step.

Early days for me involved a huge learning curve, I found the pace of consultancy is so different to being in house HR and it took a lot of adapting. However, the team were great and the support/training I received was second to none.

You’ve taken on more responsibility over time – was progressing within the company something you set out to do from the start?

If I am honest, I didn’t really set out from the start to progress, being a manager hasn’t always been something i was interested in. However, from the early days of starting to work at The HR Booth I instantly had a passion to help grow with the business and make sure we provided the best support to our clients and was always keen to improve processes and share ideas. When an opportunity came up, I was excited to play a bigger part in the growth and develop the Admin Support function within The HR Booth.

How has your role evolved since you first joined?

My role evolved as per the question above as I moved into a management role around 6 months after starting with The HR Booth. I had to ensure a good balance between the HR work but also ensuring I was supporting and managing my team effectively. Something that isn’t easy in the consultancy world due to the pace.

What’s helped you the most in your development?

I have to say John, my manager. I’ve learned so much from him and his vast HR & management experience. He always makes himself available, whether it’s to talk through a complex case or for some management coaching. Thanks John

What’s been the most valuable thing you’ve learned from working closely with others in the team?

That there is no I in team and we have the best team here. Never worked anywhere where the whole team work so well together, always supporting each other, sharing knowledge and communicate so well. We would not achieve what we do day to day without the team ethic at The HR Booth

When you look back on everything you’ve done here so far, what’s been the most rewarding part of the journey for you?

It has felt so rewarding watching the business and team grow and knowing how much of a part I have played in that. Whether it’s been from supporting with internal recruitment, to managing my team, to taking on new clients.

What advice would you give to someone new joining the team who wants to develop and grow like you have?

If you want it, show it. Sometimes people say they want to grow but don’t go out there and show they want it. The HR Booth thrive on developing people and if you want it, The HR Booth is the place to be.

Why Choose The HR Booth?
