Meet The Team: Alistair

12 April 2024 | Blog

Have you ever wondered where The HR Booth’s name came from? Well now you do!

In the latest Meet The Team feature, we caught up with Alistair to talk about how The HR Booth became the business we are today, and what Alistair’s day-to-day role is like. Have a read below.

1. How long have you worked for The HR Booth? I set The HR Booth up as a Ltd company in 2013 after doing some freelance HR work. I first started doing some freelance HR work in 2010, and by the time the end of 2012 came, I felt I could make a go of this full time and now 10 years on, we have a brilliant team, working with some amazing business across the country.

2. What’s your job role and what does a typical day look like? My main role is setting the strategy for the business and helping to shape our culture.  A big part of my role is business development and building relationships and partnerships.  I also spend a bit of time making sure our Social Impact commitments are met.

3. What can you support clients with? I don’t get involved in too much client delivery these days but when I do, it tends to be at a strategic level, helping business shape their own HR strategy.

4. What do you enjoy most about The HR Booth? Working with the people in our team and seeing them develop and grow.  It’s really rewarding seeing how well people perform and develop and I enjoy seeing the relationships the team have formed with each other and our clients.

5. If you could visit any country in the world, where would you go and what would you want to experience there? I’ve been to Australia and would love to go back and spend time in different parts.  I’d also love to visit Tokyo – just to experience the Japanese culture.

6. If you were stuck on a deserted island, what 3 items would you bring with you? Do my wife and boys count as 3?!  I’d bring my phone so I could listen to podcasts, sun cream and a pair of shorts, assuming the deserted island is sunny!

7. If you could swap jobs with anyone in the office for a day, who would it be, and why? Good question!  Probably Shannon or Rennie so I could learn all of the cool digital marketing apps and software.
