Our HR Consultant, Claire Providing outsourced HR support UK

At The HR Booth, we’re proud of the dedicated team behind the scenes who provide our clients with outsourced HR support UK. In this week’s Meet the Team spotlight, we’re catching up with Claire, one of our experienced HR Consultants. Based in the UK, Claire has been with The HR Booth for over four years – and her journey so far is a great example of how both our team and the world of HR have evolved.

From Kickstart to Key HR Consultant

Claire first joined The HR Booth to help us implement the government Kickstart Scheme for our clients. What began as a temporary role soon turned into something much more permanent.

“I originally started on a temporary basis, but I was later given the opportunity to stay on as an HR Consultant. Since then, I’ve managed a team, watched it grow, and seen so many changes in the kind of support our clients need.”

Over the years, Claire has seen a significant increase in complex casework, particularly in areas like employee grievances and formal investigations. She’s also developed a growing specialism in immigration and sponsorship – two areas that have become increasingly relevant for UK employers looking to bring in skilled overseas talent. A key example of the quality outsourced HR support UK that Claire provides.

No Two Days Are the Same in HR

Working in outsourced HR support means handling a wide range of enquiries, sometimes all in one day.

“It can be anything from a quick question about holiday entitlement or sickness absence to helping a business start a sponsorship licence application. I’ve learned to manage it by prioritising tasks – especially the ones with deadlines – and keeping a cool head.”

Claire’s calm, methodical approach has made her an invaluable asset to businesses that rely on timely, accurate HR advice.

Rewarding Work in a Fast-Moving Area

Of all the outsourced HR support UK work Claire does, one area that stands out is immigration support. Though complex and ever-changing, it’s something she finds hugely rewarding.

“It’s probably one of the most stressful areas, but I enjoy it because I’m always learning. Immigration law keeps you on your toes, but when a client is successfully set up and able to hire the person they need, it feels great to have helped them get there.”

Learning, Growing and Thriving in a Busy Environment

Reflecting on her time at The HR Booth, Claire shares that both her knowledge and mindset have developed through experience.

“You have to accept that some days your to-do list will go out the window! But I’ve learned to approach each day with a positive mindset – start fresh, assess the priorities, and just do the best I can. Thanks to the team around me, I’m constantly learning and expanding my knowledge.”

Playing Detective – The Hidden Side of HR

While many people think of outsourced HR support UK as policy, procedures, and paperwork, Claire points out a lesser-known skill that’s crucial in her role.

“You need to be good at asking questions, probing, and investigating. Sometimes, you’re like a detective – trying to piece together what’s really going on so you can give the right advice.”

This eye for detail and strong communication helps Claire get to the heart of workplace issues quickly and effectively.

Staying Organised in a Fast-Paced Role

With so many different queries coming in each day, staying organised is essential. Claire combines digital tools with old-school methods to stay focused.

“We use an internal system for tracking projects and tasks, which helps a lot. But I still love a simple list! Having a handwritten list by my side helps me stay focused and keeps me on track when juggling multiple priorities.”
